Ice House and Learn to Push

Located at Canada Olympic Park, the Ice House is the only indoor facility of its kind in North America, allowing sliding athletes of all levels to perfect the all important push, even when the iced track is closed during the summer.

COP opened this one-of-a-kind facility in February 2001. This has allowed Canada and athletes around the world to develop their push skills in bobsleigh, luge and, of course, Skeleton during the summer months.

ASA has the facility booked twice a week throughout the summer. You must be an ASA member to train with us - an Associate membership can be purchased for Ice House use only. Please see the membership section for details.

International and local push competitions are held in the Ice House each year, as well as Talent ID and recruiting camps during the summer.

Learn To Push
As part of our recruitment efforts, we offer to prospective athletes the opportunity to push a real sled on real ice!

Our “Learn To Push” camps are conducted throughout the summer season, from June until September and offer the same type of push training that our Olympians practice. Coached by our provincial team members, beginners learn the techniques required for a strong and fast start, developing skills required to sprint down the ice, leap on their sleds and cross the finish line in just a short time.

Family and friends are welcome to come and watch. All equipment is provided, No experience necessary. You must be 14 years or older in order to participate. All participants are required to sign a waiver of liability. Sliders under 18 years of age require a signature from a parent/legal guardian. Contact info@albertaskeleton.ca for dates and times.
